What is National Greyhound Week?

The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) is excited to announce that National Greyhound Week (NGW) will be returning at the end of August this year.

NGW will run from 26th August – 1st September 2024 and will be dedicated to celebrating all aspects of British licensed greyhound racing. In particular, the week will seek to promote the sport’s appeal to families and as something that people of all ages and from all walks of life can enjoy.

GBGB will once again be taking its NGW roadshow to licensed stadia up and down the country, as well as running a national NGW Trap Challenge.

Our Racecourses

As the UK’s sixth most popular spectator sport, greyhound racing is a fun, family-friendly and accessible pastime. With a proud history and loyal fanbase of all ages and backgrounds, greyhound racing remains an intrinsic part of our sporting landscape. Our racecourses also welcome newcomers each year, who all come to enjoy the sheer speed and athleticism of greyhounds doing what they do best.

There are 20 GBGB licensed stadia across the country and racing takes place at our tracks almost every day of the year, from weekly graded races to top quality open competitions. For specific information on Racecourse Licensing, please see here.

"We are so pleased that National Greyhound Week is returning for a second year following the success of last year’s event. This is an excellent opportunity to bring the racing community together to enjoy the thrill of greyhound racing and celebrate everyone who supports the sport. We hope that this will be a chance to attract new crowds to experience the excitement of a race night, and show what an exciting, accessible and affordable activity greyhound racing is for the whole family.
